Who I Am
Welcome to Historical USA! My name is Lisa Weakland, and I'm delighted to share my journey with you.
Ever since I was a kid, I begged my mom to let me stay up late every Sunday night to watch "American Experience" on PBS. This childhood ritual sprouted a deep love of history that has only grown over the years.
My life took a significant turn when I moved to Charleston, South Carolina, a place rich with historical significance. Surrounded by the echoes of the past, I felt compelled to share these stories with a broader audience. That's when "Historical USA" was born.
What started as a humble social media page has now blossomed into a thriving community. My passion for history led me to pursue academic excellence, earning my Bachelor’s in History from Liberty University with honors in 2021. Currently, I'm working on my Master's degree in History, continuing my quest for knowledge.
My academic journey is deeply enriched by my involvement in genealogy, which I view as an essential aspect of understanding history. Tracing the roots and stories of our ancestors adds a personal touch to the vast tapestry of history.
Historical USA has expanded beyond my initial expectations. It now includes a YouTube channel, a podcast, a website, a book club, and even a line of historical merchandise.
